Wine

Murdoch Hill The Phaeton Pinot Noir is sourced from the high altitude Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills. Its elevation provides a cool environment to produce quality Pinot Noir.

The wine is named after a type of horse drawn carriage used in the 19th century, known for its open, sporty design and extravagantly large wheels.

Minimal winemaking influence ensures the characters of the vineyard thrive. The grapes undergo small batch open fermentation with indigenous yeast. There are varying levels of whole bunch inclusion, adding a fine texture and spicy aromas.

Oak maturation is kept to a minimum: 9-10 months in seasoned French oak. The best barrels are selected for the final blend, which is bottled without fining or filtration.

Pale red, Murdoch Hill The Phaeton Pinot Noir's subtle red fruit flavours are supported by a round texture and well integrated, sappy tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
